Durham Public Schools - George Watts Montessori Magnet Elementary (Peaceful Planet)
Description
5 week Academic Summer Program (M-Thur) for students at George Watts in grades K-4th geared towards literacy intervention in the morning and an emphasis on Montessori Culture/Research in the afternoon. Program runs from 9-2:30pm. Field trips are on Thursdays and volunteers may attend. Program start/end weeks change each year. 2019 program runs from July 8-Aug 8.
Volunteer Activities
Volunteers will help students further develop his/her listeracy skills in the areas of phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Students are rising K-4th graders. Classrooms are broken down into Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd/3rd combined, and 4th. Volunteers can indicate which grade level they prefer to work with or feel most comfortable working with.
