The Friends of the Outer Banks History Center
Description

Our organization assists the Outer Banks History Center in Manteo, a satellite of the North Carolina Division of History and Archives, in preserving documents and photographs related to the history of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and adjacent counties of the northeastern portion of the state.

Volunteer Activities
We need help in going through a very large collection of documents left to the Outer Banks History Center by famous Outer Banks author and historian, David Stick, and renowned artist and conservationist Frank Stick, to extract old photographs and articles pertaining to flat top cottages in the Southern Shores Community of Dare County. This is part of a larger project of our organization called the "Southern Shores Flat Top Cottages Documentation Initiative." The volunteer will locate and scan the old photographs and articles and add the digital images to the documentation collection we are currently assembling.
