NC GreenPower
Description

Headquartered in Raleigh, NC GreenPower is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit improving our state’s environment by supporting renewable energy, carbon offset projects and providing grants for solar installations at K-12 schools. Since 2003, our donors have helped to support more than 1,050+ projects and installed small educational solar arrays at 32 schools in North Carolina. NC GreenPower has a small staff of 3, so to help us spread the word about the program, we depend on hundreds of volunteers for education and outreach to the public. In any given year, NC GreenPower may receive more than 200 requests to speak at or attend events. Volunteers assist us by staffing more than half of our annual events, especially during April’s Earth Month and October’s Energy Action Month.

Volunteer Activities
For most of our opportunities, volunteers will be responsible for greeting event goers at an outreach table and answering questions about NC GreenPower. You’ll also be giving away eco-friendly items like recycled pens and color-change reusable cups. We’ll provide you everything you need to tell people about our program and encourage them to donate to our program. We also might have a small solar demonstration or some type of educational activity for children, like SNAP circuits or coloring books. Examples of typical events include: STEM Expos, Earth Day Fairs, sustainability and education-related events. | | | The NC GreenPower statewide Speakers Bureau provides free presentations to any group, business or organization that has an interest in learning more about clean energy, Solar Schools, carbon offsets and so much more! Speakers Bureau Volunteers are trained for speaking engagements and will make a visual presentation to a small audience. The speakers come from a variety of backgrounds and include NC GreenPower representatives, economists, environmentalists, electric utility representatives, renewable energy advocates and generators. Examples might include a local Rotary or Sierra Club, school class or conference.
