American Indian Center
Description

Established in September 2006, the American Indian Center is a pan-university public service center serving the campus community, Native nations, and American Indian communities. The mission of the American Indian Center (AIC or Center) is to bridge the richness of Native cultures with the strengths of Carolina in research, education and service. At the Center, we promote tribal sovereignty and self-determination by leveraging University resources to meet the expressed needs of Native nations. This is the most notable feature of our public service. In doing so we build mutually beneficial engagement between campus and Native community partners. We use a holistic, decolonized approach to addressing the self-determined issues facing Native nations, which makes our work highly trans-disciplinary in nature. Our volunteer need vary depending on the expressed needs of Native Nations
